Job Summary

The Automation Engineer – Functional Consultant will partner with business and technology stakeholders to design, validate, and support automation solutions using RPA and process mining tools. The role focuses on translating business requirements into scalable, maintainable automation designs, driving process discovery and optimization, and ensuring successful delivery across the automation lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand processes, pain points, and automation opportunities across functions.
• Lead process discovery and assessment using process mining and other analysis techniques to identify automation candidates and value cases.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and user stories for RPA and process mining solutions.
• Collaborate with technical RPA developers and architects to design robust, scalable, and secure automation workflows.
• Configure and validate process mining dashboards, KPIs, and insights to support continuous improvement.
• Support creation of solution design documents, process definition documents (PDDs), and test scenarios.
• Coordinate and participate in functional testing, UAT, and go-live readiness activities for automation deployments.
• Provide functional support for live automations, including incident analysis, impact assessment, and change requests.
• Work with business teams to define success metrics, track benefits realization, and refine automation pipelines.
• Contribute to governance standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks for RPA and process mining initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops, demos, and training sessions to drive adoption and awareness of automation capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience working as a Functional Consultant, Business Analyst, or similar role in automation initiatives.
• Hands-on exposure to RPA platforms (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism or similar) from a functional or business-facing perspective.
• Experience with process mining tools and techniques, including process discovery, conformance checking, and performance analysis.
• Strong ability to capture, analyze, and document business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
• Understanding of end-to-end automation lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Familiarity with process modeling notations (e.g., BPMN) and process optimization methodologies.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills, including the ability to work with both business and technical teams.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple automation initiatives in a structured, deadline-driven environment.
• Desirable: Experience in GB/UK or similar regulatory environments and knowledge of data privacy and security considerations in automation.
• Desirable: Relevant certifications in RPA or process mining platforms, or in business analysis/process improvement (e.g., CBAP, Lean Six Sigma).
