Data Platform Devops Engineer

About this team

The Data Platform Devops Engineer will be part of the Data engineering team building multi cloud data platform using snowflake and azure data platform. The ideal candidate will be someone who has the skills of an azure administrator, snowflake administration using Devops process and help the data engineers to build the data platform to satisfy business needs. The devops engineer would also be responsible for continuously identifying opportunities for automation and reduction of technical debt to create efficiencies & optimize data delivery. They should also work with other stakeholders to understand the non-functional requirements and making sure the data platform environments are scalable, secured, legally compliant.

Qualifications

• BS or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience as a Devops Engineer
• 3+ years of experience to handle cloud infrastructure for data platforms.
• Experience with Gitlab
• Solid experience in python scripting for automation.
• Azure administrator experience is strongly desired.
• Technical troubleshooting in a sometimes, ambiguous environment. 
• Clear knowledge on setting up CI/CD for data platforms.

Desired Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience using Terraform.
• Experience working with cloud-based database systems - Snowflake data warehouses.

A day in the life:

• Data Platform process setup and automation through Devops tools.
• Automating the disaster recovery, data sharing, user maintenance
• Starts identifying the scope of improvements on brownfield azure data platforms.
• Setting up process for CI/CD for Snowflake and other data platforms and associated cloud infrastructure.
• Code Repository maintenance.
• Creating and implementing business continuity plan for different systems running on the platform with the help of other data engineers.
• Automating other manual processes including CI/CD approval process, code quality management etc and creating reusable components for Devops.
• Infrastructure creation and maintenance for the data platforms, setting up automatic alerting.
• Implementing the best practices around the environment.
• Setting up cloud cost reporting and alerting.
