The role

  • Lead how we measure and understand performance across a portfolio of digital services
  • Own our approach to data and insight — from defining the right metrics to making sure findings actually influence decisions
  • Senior role combining hands-on analytical leadership with stakeholder engagement at director level and above

What you'll do

  • Set the strategy for how we measure success across our services and programmes
  • Lead and develop a small team of analysts
  • Build relationships with product, delivery, and policy teams to embed a performance culture
  • Present performance insight clearly to senior stakeholders, including non-executives and ministers
  • Identify problems early and work across teams to understand and address them
  • Represent our approach to performance in cross-government forums and communities of practice

What we're looking for

  • Experience leading performance or analytical functions, ideally in a digital or transformation context
  • Confident communicator who can translate data into clear narratives for non-specialist audiences
  • Comfortable working across organisational boundaries and influencing without direct authority
  • Curious, rigorous approach to evidence — knows when data is good enough to act on and when it isn't
  • Familiarity with how government digital services are delivered and evaluated
