Project Background & Responsibilities:-

 

 

The basic role of the Senior Business Analyst is to conduct business analysis activities focused on identifying a business problem, opportunity or challenge (i.e. clarifying the business need) and define, document and analyse business requirements in close co-operation with the business in order to find the best solution to the original problem and/or propose alternatives so that the business opportunity can be met. You will need to understand the business needs with special attention to the very complex change requirements impacting several business areas and systems. With your strong business and IT experience you will work with internal and external development teams and architects to create proposals for the solution alternatives, translating business requirements into system/technical requirements. You should specify the impact of any newly proposed solution (or the lack of not implementing a solution) on business processes and systems considering both short-term and long-term (>1 year) timeframes.

 

As this role requires close cooperation with several stakeholders you will need to guarantee there is smooth and effective communication between the teams and stakeholders you are working with on a change, with special regard to Project Sponsors, PMs, Business SMEs, Process Development, Change and IT teams. You provide advisory support and might act as a coach or mentor to more junior Business Analysts.

 

You are also responsible for ensuring all Company standards, policies and procedures are satisfactorily met and where gaps exist, identify and initiate an appropriate plan of action to bridge these gaps. It is important that you ensure all regulatory/ legislative requirements are satisfactorily met and hold others accountable for ensuring such requirements are not breached during the analysis works.

 

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Working on local and international projects as Senior Business Analyst
  • Acting as a bridge between IT and the rest of the business and build a partnership relationship, helping both parties to understand exactly what is required and what system changes should be delivered
  • Managing business needs and requirements where you have to collect high level business ideas, examine business problems / opportunities / challenges by consulting with the Business and use appropriate analysis tools and techniques to elicit, filter and validate business requirements
  • Planning the timing and delivery of analytical activities on projects
  • Identifying what solution features will deliver business value quickly, often needing to challenge business stakeholder thinking in the process. Be able to use this determination to define and MVP and beyond / incremental delivery plans
  • Organising and facilitating workshops with representatives of all business functions, various markets and/or external suppliers concerning specific business problems / opportunities / challenges and in order to identify and analyse solution alternatives
  • Capturing, documenting and elaborating business requirements relating to original business needs that also includes collecting non-functional requirements and business reporting requirements in line with desired business solution
  • Facilitating the  prioritisation of requirements with the Business to support delivery of the solution
  • Collaborating with representatives of all concerned business / IT areas to identify and document the impact of the proposed solutions on their functions and processes
  • Providing comprehensive analysis highlighting expert opinions on solution alternatives and their impact on the organisation
  • Helping business owners to translate their business needs / concepts into the detailed scope of a project
  • Supporting PMs in providing justification to both cost and benefit estimates relating to business requirements
  • Translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications, working closely with IT Delivery, Architecture and  Testing (QA) teams to ensure alignment between requirements and the finally delivered solution; providing expert judgment on test scripts and test cases and if these properly cover original business requirements (both from quality and integrity perspective)
  • Acting on behalf of the business as a proxy product owner where appropriate
  • Working closely with Agile scrum teams, translating business/system requirements into user stories, taking responsibility for maintaining and shaping the development backlog. Attending all SCRUM ceremonies
  • Conducting system analysis, including evaluating current systems, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending solutions.
  • Develop process models, use cases, and workflow diagrams to represent business processes and system interactions.
  • Assisting in the development of test plans, test cases, and perform system testing.
  • Participating in user acceptance testing (UAT) ‘on behalf of’ the business
  • Providing support to PMs and Business Owners in carrying out impact assessment of changes (including route cause analysis) relating to original business requirements & pre-agreed scope
  • Producing deliverables such as Business Need Document (BND), Business Requirement Document (BRD) and Business Report specifications
  • Gaining approval from business and concerned parties on all deliverables produced by yourself relating to a change
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on proposals and documentation supporting system/process changes to ensure solutions meet the business requirements
  • Following the Provident specific Business Analysis and PMO methodology; additionally taking a steer on continuously improving our methodology
  • Providing professional support to Business Analysts
  • Acting as Single Point of Contact where applicable
  • Applying effective and straightforward communication between the business and IT in order to guarantee smooth delivery of solutions; playing advisory role by making recommendations to business representatives in relation to the processes / business areas.
  • Ensuring you keep learning, deepening your knowledge and widening your competence in order to provide high quality support to the business
  • Being familiar with all relevant business processes, IT policies, PMO policies and make sure they are followed

 

 


What skills will you have?

Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent level of qualification, preferably in business-related or IT-related discipline, with specialisation in business analysis or system analysis

ISEB Agile Business Analysis (preferred)

Knowledge of the Financial sector and/or IT industry and its ways of working, ideally within financial services

Proficiency in using the principles, practices, techniques and tools of business and systems analysis, with particular emphasis on issues relating to the definition of business and system requirements

Knowledge of the project lifecycle and project stages as part of PMO/Change methodology

Proven track record of experience in project delivery and process improvement

Expert level of understanding of business processes within IPF

Fluency in converting business needs into specific business and technical requirements

Knowledge of the markets that IPF operates in

Confident level of technical knowledge

Experience:

Min. 3 years working experience as a Business/Systems Analyst, preferably in Financial sector

Experience in leading the analysis of large-scale, complex Business change in a dynamic and changing environment

Experience in project management and process optimization

Experience in organising and facilitating workshops involving stakeholders from various functions / markets

Delivery experience within highly integrated system environments where development teams utilise the SCRUM development approach

Experience of the agile principles and mindset
